Thesis defences — Oct. 13 to 16

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place virtually from Tuesday, Oct. 13 to Friday, Oct. 16.

Applied Disability Studies MA thesis defence

Kristen Tollen, a Master of Arts in Applied Disability Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “Exploring the Development of Identity and Community Amongst Disabled Youth on Instagram” on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. via video conference.

The examination committee includes Dawn Zinga, Chair; Donato Tarulli, Supervisor; Beth Haller, External Examiner (Adjunct, Department of Mass Communication, Towson University; Adjunct, Graduate Program in Critical Disability Studies, York University); Rosemary Condillac, Graduate Program Director; and Priscilla Burnham Riosa and Maureen Connolly, Committee Members.

Master of Science thesis defence

Ngan (Nan) Tran, a Master of Science candidate in the Department of Chemistry, will defend her thesis “N–Phenyl Pyrroloimidazolone Derivatives for Stereoselective Birch Reduction and Chiral NHC–Iridium Complexation” on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. via video conference.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Costa Metallinos, Supervisor; Ian Pottie, External Examiner (Mount St. Vincent University); and Tomas Hudlicky and Paul Zelisko, Committee Members.
