Suspect arrested in sexual assault near escarpment trails

Niagara Regional Police have arrested a suspect for the June 18 sexual assault of a 70-year-old woman in a wooded area near Hydro Hill in south St. Catharines.

The noon-hour attack took place at the west end of Lockhart Drive, near a hydro electric generating station, and about half a kilometre from forested lands that are part of the Brock campus. It is also near public trails that are popular with area residents as well as members of the Brock community.

The suspect, a 29-year-old man, is facing four charges. More information is contained in a Niagara Regional Police report.
