Brock University youth camps cancelled for the summer

On Friday, May 22, Brock University made the difficult but responsible decision to cancel summer camps. Programs impacted include Youth University, Brock Sports School and Badgers Sport Camps hosted both on and off-campus.

Brock has run summer camp programs for youths for more than 40  years. In 2019, more than 3,300 participants registered for some 100 different summer programs.

“This was not an easy decision to make. We understand that this impacts many families, campers and staff,” said Karen McAllister-Kenny, Director of Recreation Services. “Brock camps have a strong tradition in the community and we look forward to welcoming campers back to campus when it is safe to do so.”

Heading into the summer, camp staff will be launching a free Camps at Home website that features daily activities for kids. In the coming weeks, lesson plans will be posted to the brocku.ca/kids website on topics such as science, art, adventure, sports and robotics for families and campers to explore.

Families of campers who were registered for Brock Summer camps are asked to check their email on file for additional information. Brock will be issuing full refunds over the coming weeks.
