Contract talks continue with CUPE 4207-1

Brock University continues to work towards a new collective agreement with CUPE 4207-1, which represents contract instructors, teaching assistants, course co-ordinators, marker-graders and lab demonstrators.

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the University was advised that the union has asked the provincial conciliator to request a no-board report from the provincial Ministry of Labour. Once a no-board report is issued, the parties have 17 days in which to reach a new agreement, before they are in a legal strike or lockout position.

Scheduled negotiations will continue, including a meeting this week, and the University remains hopeful of achieving a new agreement through the collective bargaining process. The University is focused on reaching an agreement that reflects the important work members of the bargaining unit perform, while respecting the current financial and fiscal realities facing the University and the broader public sector in Ontario.
