Thesis defences — Nov. 25 to Nov. 29

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from Monday, Nov. 25 to Friday, Nov. 29.

All are open for the University community to attend.

Doctor of Philosophy thesis defence

Marina de Lima Marcolin, a Doctor of Philosophy candidate in the Department of Biological Sciences, will defend her thesis titled “Influence of adolescent social instability stress on the intake of ethanol and sucrose in a rodent model” on Monday, Nov. 25 at 9:30 a.m. in WH 147.

The examination committee includes Wendy Ward, Chair; Cheryl McCormick, Supervisor; Anne Konkle, External Examiner (University of Ottawa); Paul LeBlanc, Internal External Examiner, and Gaynor Spencer and Jeff Stuart, Committee Members.

Master of Science thesis defences

James Frank, a Master of Science candidate in the Department of Physics, will defend his thesis titled “Deformations of Maxwell gauge field theory” on Monday, Nov. 25 at 1 p.m. in MC H313.

The examination committee includes Charles Després, Chair; Stephen Anco, Supervisor; Steven Rayan, External Examiner (University of Saskatchewan); and Alexandre Odesski and Kirill Samokhin, Committee Members.

 

Emily Ham, a Master of Science candidate in the Department of Earth Sciences, will defend her thesis titled “Microplastics and microfibres in the municipal water systems and agricultural lands of the Niagara Region, Ontario” on Thursday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. in WH 147.

The examination committee includes Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Michael Pisaric, Supervisor; Joshua Kurek, External Examiner (Mount Allison University); and Uwe Brand and Kevin Turner, Committee Members.

Master of Child and Youth Studies thesis defence

Mirmahmoud Mirnasab Ghazani, a Master of Child and Youth Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “Comparative Review of Mental Health Policies and Standards of Professional Practice in Ontario and Iran: Emphasis on a Cultural Framework” on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. in WH 147.

The examination committee includes Michael Ashton, Chair; Tricia Vause, Supervisor; Kimberly Maich, External Examiner (Associate Professor, Faculty of Education, Memorial University); Shauna Pomerantz, Graduate Program Director; Frances Owen, Committee Member and Ayda Tekok-Kilic, Committee Member.
