Outstanding Social Sciences research to be celebrated

The upcoming 2019 Social Sciences Research Colloquium aims to showcase the recipients of research awards within the Faculty of Social Sciences. This year marks the first time that select graduate student award winners will present their research alongside faculty.

Rebecca Raby, Professor of Child and Youth Studies, received a Distinguished Researcher Award at the Faculty’s Celebration of Excellence last January. Raby will present a talk entitled “Young people’s very first jobs and the unequal production of independence.”

Joining Raby at the colloquium are Russ Martin from the MA in Popular Culture, who will present on “RuPaul’s Drag Race and the Toronto Drag Scene,” and Aaron Nartey of the MA in Geography, who will discuss “Return Migration of Ghanian Immigrants.”

The public colloquium takes place Monday, Dec. 2, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Sankey Chamber. Everyone is welcome to attend.
