To consider diaspora populations, it’s important to first acknowledge and recognize the Indigenous Peoples of Canada and their traditional territories. On Wednesday, Oct. 23, Brock University President Gervan Fearon will examine diasporic populations and differential social – institutional capital within the Canadian setting and the potential role of universities in institutional capacity building.
The event, Diaspora Social and Institutional Capital: Bridging the Divide, takes place in Pond Inlet from 12:30 to 2 p.m. with lunch provided.
Interested guests must RSVP to Irene M. F. Blayer at iblayer@brocku.ca or Lissa Paul at lpaul@brocku.ca
The Diaspora Inter-Crossings Speaker Series launched in 2014 typically hosts speakers from outside of Brock, including those from other Canadian universities, as well as speakers from Brazil, the Caribbean, Portugal and the U.S.
