Thesis defences — Aug. 26 to 30

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from Monday, Aug. 26 to Friday, Aug. 30.

All are open for the University community to attend.

Master of Arts thesis defences

Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies student Katerina Schiralli will defend the thesis “Adapting to Parental Investment Uncertainty?: The Role of Personality and Puberty” on Monday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. in Cairns 336.

Her examination committee includes Kate Bezanson, Chair; Anthony Volk, Supervisor; Sandeep Mishra, External Examiner (Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, University of Regina); Shauna Pomerantz, Graduate Program Director; and Heather Chalmers and Danielle Sirianni-Molnar, Committee Members.

Applied Disability Studies Master of Arts student Alicia Azzano will defend the thesis “Parent-Mediated Targeted Intervention for Young Children At-Risk for Autism Spectrum Disorder” on Monday, Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. in WH 147.

The examination committee includes Shauna Pomerantz, Chair; Maurice Feldman, Supervisor and Graduate Program Director; Joseph Lucyshyn, External Examiner (Associate Professor, Faculty of Education, University of British Columbia); Rebecca Ward, Co-Supervisor and Committee Member; and Tricia Vause, Committee Member.

Applied Disability Studies MA student Rebecca Ensor will defend the thesis “The Impact of Pairing on Therapeutic Rapport and Treatment Outcomes for Children With Autism” on August 27 at noon in TH 150.

The examination committee includes Frances Owen, Chair; Priscilla Burnham-Riosa, Supervisor; Ellie Kazemi, External Examiner (Professor, Department of Psychology, California State University, Northridge); Maurice Feldman, Graduate Program Director; Kendra Thomson, Committee Member and Rebecca Ward, Committee Member.

Applied Disability Studies Master of Arts student Joey Robertson will defend the thesis “An Evaluation of a Telecommunication Model for Training Staff to Implement Common Behavioural Protocols” on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. in TH 150.

The examination committee includes Gordon Hodson, Chair; Kendra Thomson, Supervisor; Wendy Machalicek, External Examiner (Associate Professor, College of Education, University of Oregon); Maurice Feldman, Graduate Program Director; and Julie Koudys and Tricia Vause, Committee Members.

Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies student Samara Goldsworthy will defend the thesis “A Qualitative Exploration of the Connections Among Quality of Relationship with Parent(s), Self-Compassion, and Academic Motivation in Young Adults” on Friday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. in WH 147.
