Thesis defences — April 8 to 12

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from April 8 to 12.

All are open for the University community to attend.

PhD thesis defences

David Awde, a PhD candidate in the Department of Biological Sciences, will present his thesis defence on Tuesday, April 9 at 10:15 a.m. in WH147.

His thesis is titled “Environmental and genetic influences on eusocial caste behaviour.”

His examination committee members are Heather Gordon, Chair; Patrick Abbot, External Examiner (Vanderbilt University); Martin Lemaire, Internal Examiner; Miriam Richards, Supervisor; Graham Thompson, Co-Supervisor; and Robert Carlone and Adonis Skandalis, Committee Members.

Iryna Alshakova, a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemistry, will present her thesis defence on Wednesday, April 10 at noon in WH147.

Her thesis is titled “New Pyrazole-Based Ligands and Their Complexes for Application in Transfer Hydrogenation and Hydrosilylation.”

Her examination committee members are Heather Gordon, Chair; Datong Song, External Examiner (University of Toronto); Thad Harroun, Internal Examiner; Georgii Nikonov, Supervisor; and Costa Metallinos and Travis Dudding, Committee Members.

Minh Tho Nguyen, a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemistry, will present her thesis defence on Thursday, April 11 at 10 a.m. in PL600F.

Her thesis is titled “Synthesis and Reactivity of Main Group Complexes for Applications in Small Molecular Activation.”

Her examination committee members are Jens Coorssen, Chair; Kim Baines, External Examiner (Western University); Alan Castle, Internal Examiner; Georgii Nikonov, Supervisor; and Feng Li and Jeffrey Atkinson, Committee Members.
