Award-winning Italian-Canadian author to give public Brock talk

Award-winning author Gianna Patriarca will speak at Brock Monday, Nov. 19 as part of the Italian Canadian Diaspora Speaker Series.

Author Gianna Patriarca will be speaking at Brock as part of the Italian Canadian Diaspora Speaker Series on Monday, Nov. 19.

Patriarca has authored eight books of poetry, a children’s book and a collection of short stories. Her work is taught at universities in Italy, Canada and the U.S., and has been adapted for Canadian stage and radio drama.

During her talk at Brock, “My Voice in Three Languages,” she will speak about her multilingual writing experience. The public event begins at 5 p.m. in Plaza 600F.

Patriarca is the first recipient of the Science and Culture Award from the Italian Chamber of Commerce, awarded in Rome in 2016, and received the Spirit of Ontario medal from the Congress of Italian Canadians in 2017.

Her talk is being presented by the Centre for Canadian Studies and the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures.
