Thesis defences — Oct. 15 to 19

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from Oct. 15 to 19.

All are open for the University community to attend.

Master of Science thesis defences

Jay Douglas, a Master of Science candidate in the Computer Sciences Department, will present his thesis “Efficient Merging and Decomposition Variants of Cooperative Particle Swarm Optimization for Large Scale Problems” on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. in Mackenzie Chown H313. This defence will be a report defence. 

His examination committee members are Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Shahryar Rahnamayan, External Examiner (University of Ontario Institute of Technology); Beatrice Ombuki-Berman, Supervisor; and Brian Ross and Robson De Grande (Committee Members).

Eseroghene Balota, a Master of Science candidate in the Earth Sciences Department, will present his thesis titled “Western Pacific Paleoceanography Across the Early-Middle Pleistocene Boundary ~773 KA, Marine Isotope Stage 19): Dinoflagellate Cysts of the Chiba Composite Section, Japan” by video conference on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. in McKenzie Chown H313.

His examination committee members are Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Audrey Limoges, External Examiner (University of New Brunswick); Martin Head, Supervisor; and Francine McCarthy and Rich Cheel, Committee Members.
