University instructors and researchers are invited to submit proposals for the second annual Teaching and Research Technology Showcase.
A collaboration between the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation and Information Technology Services (ITS), the showcase is an opportunity for researchers, research assistants, graduate students, faculty members, teaching assistants, instructors, librarians and other teaching staff to demonstrate how they are using campus technology in their own teaching or research practice.
“Our goal is to bring together teaching and research folks who are doing cool things on campus with our shared technology,” said Michael Brousseau, Acting Manager, eLearning.
“This showcase isn’t about training — we want people to demonstrate how and why they are uniquely using the technology for their own research and pedagogy.”
The free, interactive event is planned for Thursday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon. Similar to last year, digital poster presentations on topics such as online teaching and course evaluations, high-powered computing and 3D printing, will take place in Market Hall, where coffee and snacks will also be available.
The new 15-minute presentations will take place simultaneously in the Schmon Tower classrooms just outside of Market Hall.
Andy Morgan, ITS Director of Client Services says the addition of the short presentations will allow for more focused demonstrations where presenters can dive deeper into their projects, as well as an opportunity for group questions and discussion.
“We hope the demonstrations — and conversations that result from them — spark interest in adapting the tools and resources we have available in pursuit of new ideas.”
Interested presenters are encouraged to fill out an online form by Tuesday, Nov. 6.
