Parking changes and lot improvements on the way

With the start of the Fall term right around the corner, drivers are reminded that changes are coming to Zone 1 parking under a new model introduced in the spring.

Beginning Saturday, Sept. 1, Zone 1 will be free on weekdays after 6 p.m. and all day on weekends. Parking is prohibited between 2 and 5 a.m. on any day.

Permits, required during daytime hours through the week, are now on sale online at brocku.ca/parking and in person at Parking Services in the Campus Store. During the first two weeks of September, Parking Services will be set up outside of the Campus Store for quick and convenient processing during the rush of back to school.

Also launching at Brock next month is the mobile parking app Honk.

Used by many municipalities, Honk allows customers to quickly pay for a parking spot either before or after arriving on campus. After downloading the app and setting up an account, customers can search on their mobile device for parking in Brock’s Lots C, D, E or P and pay through the app.

Over the coming weeks, drivers will notice lot improvements happening on campus as portions of Zone 1 are resurfaced to address safety and drainage issues.

Lot D will also see the installation of a new service kiosk as well as an elongation of the entrance to decrease congestion around Isaac Brock Circle. From the end of August until Sept. 7, guests looking to use Lot D will be directed to check in with the attendant at the Reserved B entrance just west of Lot D while work is completed.
