Convocation preview: Tuesday, June 5

Brock University’s Spring Convocation resumes Tuesday with 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. ceremonies for the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Receiving an honorary doctorate and delivering the Convocation address will be Hassan Yussuff, President of the Canadian Labour Congress. Yussuff became a union member soon after immigrating from Guyana in the 1970s and was elected union chair at the age of 19. He climbed the ranks of the Canadian Auto Workers, eventually becoming the organization’s first Human Rights Director.

Tuesday afternoon, Faculty of Social Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award recipient Livianna Tosutti will deliver the Convocation address. Among the many graduates crossing the stage will be wrestler Jessica Brouillette, the 2017-18 Brock Badgers Female Athlete of the Year. Brouillette became the first Brock female wrestler to capture five-consecutive team national championships in a career and just the third to capture four individual national titles.

All of the Convocation ceremonies are free to attend and no tickets are required. Parking is free for guests throughout the week. Free Wi-Fi is also being provided to guests throughout Convocation week. The BrockEvents Wi-fi network can be accessed using the username: BROCKGRAD and password: welcome2brock!

For those who can’t make it to the Brock Campus for Spring Convocation, all of the ceremonies will be streamed at brocku.ca/livestream
