Brock’s internal information source has been redesigned with employees top of mind.
On June 1, a new homepage look debuted for SharePoint, the University’s private intranet for faculty and staff. Named ‘SharePoint @ Brock,’ the site is more visually appealing, easier to navigate and features employee-focused news and events like health and safety tips, professional development opportunities and feature stories.
It also includes quick links to popular web pages; a highlighted video; feeds from The Brock News, Information Technology Services and Facilities Management; and easy access to Yammer, Brock’s private, internal social network.
SharePoint @ Brock is distinct from The Brock News, which is the University’s original campus newsletter.
While The Brock News continues to be a media outlet aimed at broad internal and external readership, the new-look SharePoint @ Brock is targeted at Brock faculty and staff.
Kevin Cavanagh, Interim Director, University Marketing and Communications, said that as The Brock News expanded to address a broader range of audiences, the need for more specific in-house employee communications became apparent.
“SharePoint @ Brock provides faculty and staff with a centralized source of information, news and events that is specifically for — and about — them. The site is a resource for people who work at Brock,” said Cavanagh.
Similar to The Brock News daily emails, employees can expect to receive a weekly email digest of the news and events posted to SharePoint.
Story submissions and event postings for SharePoint @ Brock are accepted via an online form or by emailing Jocelyn Titone, Communications Specialist with University Marketing and Communications, at jtitone@brocku.ca
