Changes coming to Workday as data imported, new design launched

Employees using Workday may notice several changes over the next month.

Beginning in June, data from Brock’s current human resources systems will be imported into Workday. Faculty and staff using Workday’s financial services modules (Workday Finance) will see additional information, including their own employee data such as personal and contact information.

Changes are expected to come in waves and once Workday’s human resources component (Workday HR) goes live, records will be accurate. An important feature of Workday HR is its rigorous safeguards for employee data security.

Training sessions scheduled throughout June will offer guidance on using different modules in Workday, including how employees can directly access and update their own personal information.

Workday’s new ‘Canvas’ user interface features large icons and colours to match Brock’s brand.

Employees may also notice a new Workday design. Launched Monday, May 21, Workday’s new ‘Canvas’ design features large, clean icons that allow for more intuitive navigation. The new interface reflects Brock’s branding and is more adaptable to varying screen sizes.

Employees are encouraged to visit the Workday SharePoint site on a regular basis between now and July 1 to register for upcoming training events and to view important dates focused on job postings, contracts, time sheets and vacation balances. Click “Contact Us” to ask questions and provide feedback.

Once launched, Workday HR will allow real-time access to data, reduce duplication and provide a unified system of record for improved analytics, reporting and forecasting for planning and operational decisions. The cloud-based human resources management system will give employees direct access to their personal employment information and online requests for time away, and will provide management with team information and reports for analytics.

Workday HR will provide several benefits to people and departments across Brock University.
