The next instalment of the Goodman School of Business Luncheon Speaker Series will explore entrepreneurial business expectations.
Eugene Kaciak, Goodman Professor of Management, will present the crowd with his co-authored paper, “Country-level determinants and consequences of overconfidence in the ambitious entrepreneurship segment,” on Friday, Feb. 2.
The paper, recently published in the International Small Business Journal, focuses on the gap between the ambition of entrepreneurs and their follow-through.
Although this gap, known in the research as ‘entrepreneurial overconfidence,’ exists universally, Kaciak analyzed how it varied by country to find out where entrepreneurs have the most realistic or unrealistic expectations of their business success.
The research shows that a significant gap can have a detrimental effect on a country’s prosperity.
In its 12th year, Goodman’s Luncheon Speaker Series provides an informal and engaging opportunity to listen and discuss recent advances in research, teaching and practices with colleagues internationally.
The event is being held in Taro Hall 203 on Friday, Feb. 2 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Space is limited. Goodman faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to attend. Brock community members wishing to attend can email Jennifer Brisson at jbrisson@brocku.ca to reserve a seat.
