Students from Brock University’s Goodman School of Business have partnered with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to provide complimentary tax return services to the local community.
Anyone with a modest income and simple tax situation is eligible for the service, which starts on campus next week.
The tax clinic is scheduled for March 5 to 9 and 12 to 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Computer Commons Training Room in Scotiabank Hall.
The service is free of charge and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The last client timeslot is 3:30 p.m. each day.
Anyone attending the tax clinic should bring government-issued photo identification, along with all relevant tax forms. The service is provided for 2017 tax returns only.
Thirty-two Goodman accounting students will volunteer for the clinic after spending the last several weeks receiving specialized training through the CRA’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
Students benefit from the relevant job experience the opportunity offers, in many cases, building on the experience they have already gained through co-op work terms.
Full eligibility requirements are listed on the CRA website.
