Remembrance Day to be marked at ceremonies across Niagara

With Remembrance Day falling on a Saturday this year, Brock University is encouraging staff and students to take part in one of the many ceremonies being held across the Niagara region. Services to honour fallen soldiers will be held in most Niagara municipalities Saturday, Nov. 11. President Gervan Fearon will be attending the 10:15 a.m. service at St. Catharines City Hall Saturday.

Services scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11:

  • Grimsby: 10:40 a.m. at the Grimsby Museum on Murray Street
  • Niagara Falls: 10:45 a.m. at the Gale Centre on Thorold Stone Road
  • Niagara-on-the-Lake: 10 a.m. at Crossroads Public School on Niagara Stone Road
  • Pelham: 10:45 a.m. at Veterans Park on the grounds of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 613 on Regional Road 20
  • Port Colborne: 10:45 a.m. at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park Cenotaph on Sugarloaf Street; and Centennial Park Cenotaph on Vimy Road
  • St. Catharines: 10:15 a.m. service at city hall followed by a parade to the cenotaph at Memorial Park on St. Paul Street; 10:40 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion on Chestnut Street; and 11 a.m. at the Imperial Veterans Association on George Street
  • Wainfleet: 10:45 a.m. at the Cenotaph located at the corner of Park and Sugarloaf streets
  • Welland: Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4 Hall on Morningstar Avenue

Fort Erie’s annual Remembrance Day parade and ceremony will be held Thursday, Nov. 9 starting at 1 p.m.
