MIWSFPA to host public lecture on theatre

The world of theatre will be at the centre of a public lecture delivered Friday, Sept. 22 at the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.

Juliana Saxton, Professor Emeritus from the University of Victoria and honorary professor from the University of Sydney, Australia, will present Seeing the World Instead of Numbly Recognizing It: Witnessing and Representation in Applied Theatre.

This paper examines the embodiment of “direct speech” and how we engage audiences and actors alike in “seeing the world” more clearly. A question and answer period will immediately follow the lecture.

The free community event, sponsored by the Social Justice Research Institute, begins at 7:30 p.m. in the school’s MIWSFPA Theatre.

More information is available on the ExperienceBU event page.
