Brock Associate Professor Robert McGray proudly participated in last year’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event. The University will again be putting together a team for the fundraiser and is looking for participants for 2017.It’s time to pick out a pair of pumps and strut your stuff for a worthy cause.
Brock is looking for participants to join its team for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: The Men’s March to End Violence Against Women.
The University annually puts together a team for the fundraiser in support of Gillian’s Place, an organization that provides shelter and assistance to women and children breaking the cycle of violence.
The event, taking place Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Pen Centre in St. Catharines, has walkers strapping on heels — or other types of women’s shoes — to march together in solidarity while raising awareness and money for the women’s shelter.
The Brock Blisters, as they’ve been dubbed, are searching for new teammates to participate.
Registration can be completed through the Walk a Mile website. To join the University team, simply search for the Brock Blisters during registration.
On-site registration on the day of the event begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by the walk at 11.
For more information on the team or assistance with registration, e-mail Brock’s team captain Kevin Lawr at [email protected].
