Brock University commuters who travel through the interchange of Highways 406, 58 and St. David’s Road should prepare for additional road closures set to begin next week.
Crews began a three-year overhaul of the busy junction earlier this week, introducing a number of immediate lane reductions and closures, and restricting pedestrian access on the north side of St. David’s Road.
Beginning the week of July 17, additional closures and lane reductions will take place at the interchange. Some will be overnight traffic restrictions, but others will see lanes or ramps shut down for several months. They will include:
- Traffic reduced to a single lane in both directions on St. David’s Road
- Ramp to St David’s Road West /Sir Isaac Brock Way (leading to the University) shut down until November or December. For a detour, northbound motorists headed for Brock should exit the 406 at Beaverdams Road, then reach the campus via Merrittville Highway.
- Reduced lanes on the on-ramp from Hwy. 58 northbound to St. David’s Road East and West, and Hwy. 406 southbound
- Traffic reduced to a single lane on the ramp from Hwy. 406 southbound to Hwy. 58 Niagara bound
- Nightly closure of the ramp from eastbound David’s Road to Hwy 406 northbound (St. Catharines).
- Alternating lane closures will take place on Hwy. 406 northbound and southbound between Beaverdams Road and Glendale Avenue
Project updates on traffic flows will be published in the Brock News throughout the construction period.
