There was no shortage of options for Brock employees to enhance their well-being during the recent Wellness Day celebration.
The 18th annual event took place Thursday, June 15, with 578 registrants participating in 82 workshops meant to improve social, emotional, physical, financial, intellectual, environmental, occupational and spiritual wellness.
Kathryn Walker, Brock’s Manager of Health Management and Wellness, offered thanks to the Brock community for supporting another successful Wellness Day.
“Human Resources would like to thank everyone who attended the day and embraced the activities in a meaningful way to assist them in achieving wellness,” she said.
In addition to the workshops, Wellness Day included an open plenary by Brock alumna Sherry Campbell, a psychotherapist and professional speaker who discussed the importance of resiliency, as well as closing remarks by Brock President Tom Traves.
The event’s popular penny sale raised a record $4,190 to support the Student Wellness Scholarship Award, presented to students who demonstrate a contribution to wellness within their community.
Winning penny sale numbers are available on SharePoint. Prizes can be claimed by bringing winning tickets to Human Resources reception on the 12th floor of Schmon Tower.
Clara Suba was the raffle winner of the bike donated by Greenshield, the University’s extended health benefits provider.
Walker thanked the many partners that helped to make the day possible, as well as silver-level sponsors Grand & Toy, and bronze-level sponsors Scotiabank and Shepell, the University’s employee and family assistance plan provider.
A survey will be sent out shortly to all attendees requesting feedback on the day. A draw for one free parking upgrade for the upcoming academic year will take place for all those that respond to the survey.
Photos taken throughout Wellness Day will be posted online by the end of the week.
