Sunshine, fresh produce and the smell of barbecue wafting through the air will all soon return as a weekly lunch hour staple at Brock University.
The annual Brock Farmers Market is returning to Jubilee Court beginning Thursday, May 25.
The popular event will transform the green space every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. until September.
The market is intended to draw students, staff and faculty out on their lunch break to enjoy some fresh air, good food and the company of the Brock community.
Bring a lunch or buy one fresh off the grill.
The weekly event will include a barbecue, as well as a handful of vendors selling fruits and vegetables, fresh baked goods and handcrafted items.
Live music will fill Jubilee Court each week from noon to 1 p.m., and there will be a variety of outdoor games, including bean bag toss, ladder ball and bocce ball, available for people to play.
“The whole idea is to get out of your office for lunch. We’re bringing a backyard barbecue feel to the lunch hour,” said Will Parent, Interim Manager, Conference Services.
“It’s a lot nicer having lunch with a live musician, playing some games and socializing instead of sitting in an office,” he said lightheartedly.
