Still time left to sign up for National Volunteer Week

Brock faculty and staff still have time to sign up to make a difference in the community later this month.

About 55 people from the University have committed to spending a morning or afternoon assisting local organizations during National Volunteer Week.

Volunteer opportunities are available on Wednesday, April 26 and Thursday, April 27, either from 9 a.m. to noon or from 1 to 4 p.m.

Deadline to apply is end of day Tuesday, April 11.

Participants are asked to register online for their preferred time slot after receiving supervisor approval.

Following registration, they will have an opportunity to select their preferences from a list of partnering organizations looking for volunteers.

There will be a mixture of indoor and outdoor volunteer opportunities for people of all abilities.

As National Volunteer Week is a Brock-supported initiative, employees are not required to use vacation time to participate. Supervisor approval, however, is required.

This is the third year Brock has participated in the event, with volunteers previously spending time doing community cleanup, painting, assisting at food banks and providing general maintenance through various organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity, Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold, and Heartland Forest.
