Nominations open for Grad Studies awards

Nominations are being sought for awards recognizing outstanding leadership and mentorship in the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Recipients of the 2017 Graduate Mentorship Awards and the Marilyn Rose Graduate Leadership Award will be announced during Brock’s 12th annual Mapping the New Knowledges (MNK) Graduate Student Research Conference on April 11.

Nominations for the awards, which honour faculty, staff and students, are open until March 10.

Marilyn Rose Graduate Leadership Award: The award recognizes faculty, staff and students for their work and leadership in enhancing the graduate studies experience at Brock.

Now in its third year, the award is named in honour Marilyn Rose, Brock’s dean of Graduate Studies from 2005 to 2011. Rose passed away in July 2015.

All members of the Brock community may submit nominations.

Award winners receive $500.

Graduate Mentorship Awards:

The award honours and recognizes the essential role of mentorship in graduate education by faculty supervisors in two categories: Mentorship of master’s students only and mentorship of both master’s and PhD students.

Graduate students are invited to submit nominations.

Award winners received $1,000 to assist with ongoing graduate student mentorship.

Since the Graduate Mentorship Awards were established in 2011, more than 60 nominations have been submitted with 12 awards presented to date.

More information about the awards and the nomination process is available on the MNK awards website.
