Walton College of Business prof to speak at Goodman today

Distinguished professor and Billingsley Chair in Information Systems at University of Arkansas’s Sam M. Walton College of Business, Viswanath Venkatesh, will join Brock’s Goodman School of Business Friday to talk about his research on entrepreneurship.

As part of the ongoing Research Speaker Series at the Goodman School of Business, Venkatesh will discuss his paper Networks, Technology, and Entrepreneurship: A Field Quasi-experiment among Women in Rural India today from 12:30 – 2 p.m. in Sankey Chambers.

Having received approximately $10 million in research sponsorship, Venkatesh has focused on understanding the diffusion of technologies in organizations and society.

Venkatesh has built an impressive research reputation and is most proud of his ongoing work in villages in India, which he presented at the United Nations where he has served on an expert panel on the advancement of women in less developed countries.

A highly cited researcher, Venkatesh’s work has been published in leading journals in a variety of business disciplines including information systems, organizational behaviour, psychology, marketing and operations management.

Venkatesh has developed and maintained an information systems research rankings website and currently serves as senior editor for MIS Quarterly and AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction journals.
