Two Brock University students received the non-endowed Wellness Awards for the 2016 academic year.
The proceeds of the 17th annual Employee Wellness Day Penny Sale totalled $ 2,445. The success of the Penny Sale can be attributed to the generous donations made by community members, Senior Administrative Council, Brock staff and faculty and the participants of Wellness Day who showed their support by purchasing Penny Sale Tickets.
The winning students are:
Jessica She-Ting Wong
Jessica is entering her fourth year in Child Studies in the 2016 academic year and has plans to enter in to the field of Pediatric Occupational Therapy. Her many academic achievements include the Brock Scholar’s Award and the Dean’s Honour List. She contributes to wellness by volunteering with the following organizations; Big Brother Big Sisters of St.Catharines-Thorold & District, Go Girls! Mentor, Brock Health Magazine Author and Communications Director, Spring Sprint for Brain Tumour Research, Med Plus Upper Year Mentor, Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research Member, Brock Cares Day of Service, Special Needs Activity Program Volunteer, Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara – Reading Rocks! Tutor, and Niagara Children’s Centre Volunteer.
Nicholas Lepore
Nicholas is entering in to his third year of studies in the Bachelor of Accounting Co-op Program in the Goodman School of Business. His many academic achievements include the Brock Scholar’s Award and the Dean’s Honour List. While striving to maintain high academic marks, he has demonstrated a passion for giving back to his community in the name of wellness. His wide variety of community service includes Pennies for Food Fundraising Program, Spring Sprint for Brain Tumour Research, Autism Speaks Canada Walk, Terry Fox Run f
or Cancer Research, Coldest Night of the Year Homelessness Prevention Fundraiser, Brock University Trick or Eat for Local Food Banks, Alzheimer’s Society – Play for Memories Fundraiser, Brock Cares Day of Service, West Park Health Centre Seniors Prom, Council for Exceptional Children Awards Dinner and the Corpus Christi Children’s Liturgy.
The students’ extensive volunteer service and passion for promoting wellness and giving back to the community, make them the epitome of what the Wellness Award stands for.
