Spirit Week pep rally Wednesday

The #WeAreReady team is making history for the second year in a row.

Hosting the first-ever Spirit Week from Sept. 12-16, the team is building on the momentum of last year’s success while strengthening the movement.

“Spirit Week is meant to set the tone for the rest of the year by bringing people together,” said Mohamed Hassan, fourth-year Economics student.

“We want to unite students and show them that Brock is their home away from home and that the Badger family is their family. We are all one,” added Bawe Nsame, fourth-year Sport Management student.

The team is building up the hype across campus by challenging all Brock departments to show their school spirit by creatively welcoming students back to campus leading up to Homecoming.

The week will be highlighted by the We Are Ready Spirit Night on Alumni Field Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. Students are encouraged to paint the campus red by wearing Brock swag to celebrate what it really means to be a Badger.

There will be live performances and the unveiling of the new Boomer the Badger during Spirit Night, as well as the launch of the new Brock anthem, written and composed by Brock alum Ryan Guay (BA ’10, BEd ’10).

“Badger pride is every day, but this is one night where we all come together with the rest of the Brock and Niagara community to celebrate. It will be a great way to get the crowd excited for the Sept.16 Tailgate Party and the Steel Blade Classic,” Nsame said.

At the end of the day, Nsame and Hassan highlight that #WeAreReady is a movement for every Badger.

“It’s all about the Brock experience. When you come out to our events, expect to have a good time.”
