Graduate Studies scholarship information sessions scheduled throughout September

The Faculty of Graduate Studies invites fourth-year undergraduate and current graduate students with a minimum 80 per cent average in each of the last two years of study to attend information sessions about external scholarships.

The sessions will focus on the application process and deadlines for the Tri-Agency External Scholarships (NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR) and Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS).

In 2016, Brock graduate students received approximately $2.5 million in provincial and national funding to support research.

“Solid, steady funding through Tri-Agency awards is fundamental to making the best work happen,” says Jens Coorssen, Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies. “Our students are competing in a highly competitive funding environment. Their success in achieving Tri-Agency funding reflects on the excellence and rigour of their research and it is a strong measure of the calibre of their work as part of Canada’s contribution to discovery and innovation on the world stage.”

In addition to the information sessions, the FGS invites students to attend a workshop to assist them with structuring a compelling proposal.

“Show me the money! Scholarship proposals that go ‘CA-ching,’ ”
Friday, Sept. 23, 1 to 3 p.m., Pond Inlet.

The workshop panel includes:

Joffre Mercier, Associate Vice-President, Research;

Associate Professor Tim Murphy, Psychology;

Julia Polyck-O’Neill, a PhD student in Interdisciplinary Humanities and recipient of a SSHRC doctoral scholarship.

The event is a presentation of the VITAE Essential Skills program. For more information about the workshop, please contact Karin Perry, vitae@brocku.ca
