Doors open on new Badgers locker room

For Dani Elgadi, there’s no comparison between the old Badgers men’s basketball team locker room versus the renovated space unveiled Monday.

The team captain said professionalism on the court starts with a professional-looking dressing room, which is what they now have thanks to the support of the Partridge family.

“We’re truly excited for this fresh start feel for the goals we want to establish. We want to win and we feel like this is a stepping stone in that direction – not just for the years that we’re here, but 10 years down the line,” said Elgadi.

“This is a million times better than what we had. It sets the tone for a business-like atmosphere. We love playing basketball and it’s a fun game, but when we walk into the gym, it’s business and we have goals,” Egladi said.

Brock Sports unveiled the renovated men’s dressing room Monday afternoon, where Acting President Brian Hutchings said it couldn’t have been possible without the support of Peter Patridge Sr. and Jr., who have both been longtime Brock backers and fans of the varsity athletics programs.

The updated locker room includes individual wood stalls for each player, a new rubber floor, a professional basketball court coaching board and a plaque thanking the Partridge family for their support.

The Badgers men and women open the Ontario University Athletics regular season at home Nov. 12 against the Toronto Varsity Blues, though both teams have full pre-season schedules leading up to that night. Season tickets will be available online through gobadgers.ca and from the Walker Complex Welcome Desk starting Monday, Sept. 26.
