Classics Professor Michael Carter is the new Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in Humanities.
Carter, who specializes in Greek and Roman history and culture, has been with Brock University since 2000. His research focuses on Greek and Roman s
pectacles such as ancient athletics, gladiatorial combats and related events in the amphitheatre.
Carter was the 2013 recipient of the Faculty of Humanities Award for Excellence in Teaching and the 2014 Faculty of Humanities Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Activity.
He has served on Senate, as Classics department Chair and last term was the Acting Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Curriculum.
He started his new role July 1.
