Seventy-one students inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma

Convocation was an important day for Manuel Gloger (MSc ’16).

Not only did he graduate, but he was also recognized as one of the top in his class by Beta Gamma Sigma.

A graduate of Brock’s Master of Science in Management program as of convocation Thursday, his Brock story began in 2012 when he attended the Goodman School of Business on an international exchange while studying at the University of Mannheim in Germany.

During his exchange, he took an international business course with Professor Marshall Jiang, which then acted as the basis for Gloger’s decision to return to the Goodman School of Business for the Master of Science in Management program after completing his undergraduate degree.

Returning as an MSc student to Brock in 2014, Gloger has studied innovation in China under the supervision of Jiang. Gloger presented papers at two academic conferences before successfully defending his thesis earlier this year.

Thursday he received the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma pin, along with 70 other Goodman students, at the ceremony that took place between Goodman’s two convocation ceremonies. Students received a certificate and were formally inducted to the Brock chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, where they will enjoy a lifetime membership.

Beta Gamma Sigma is an international honours society that recognizes the top 10 per cent of the undergraduate class and the top 20 per cent of the graduate class at institutions accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

In addition to the 71 students receiving pins, Jason Sparaga (BBA ’93), this year’s Goodman Distinguished Graduate, will be inducted to the Brock chapter as a chapter honouree. Sparaga is the co-founder and co-CEO of Spark Power Corp. and founder of Spara Capital Partners.

The ceremony will also see the Beta Gamma Sigma Professor of the Year award being presented to Professor Ernest Biktimirov, associate dean of research and graduate programs at the Goodman School of Business, for exemplifying the characteristics and values of the society.
