Olympic wrestlers training at Brock University

Over the last week, 60 wrestlers from around the world attended a training camp at Brock University hosted by Brock wrestling head coach Marty Calder, ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympics. Among the athletes that attended will be representing Canada, Germany, the United States, Latvia, Finland and Estonia at the Olympic games: Fort Erie Times CHCH News, and 610 CKTB.

Canadian kids are getting a D-minus in physical activity

James Mandigo, a professor in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences and Vice-provost of Brock University, says children need to learn more about physical literacy. Cited in Today’s Parent, Mandigo explains that teaching them different movement skills will foster confidence, physical competence, and encourage engagement in physical activities for life.

The sexuality no one will talk about

Asexuality has been making its way into mainstream knowledge over the last decade after the publication of professor Anthony Bogaert’s paper “Asexualty: Prevalence and associated factors in a national probability sample,” says BBC Future. While his work benefits all areas of sexual study, Bogaert encourages further exploration about the origins of asexuality in order to provide the necessary resources to this community.
