The Brock SSHRC Institutional Grant (BSIG) consists of funding from the federal government’s Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council to help Brock develop and maintain a solid base of research and research-related activities in SSHRC-supported disciplines.

Seed grants from this fund provide researchers with up to $5,000 funding for one year for projects aimed towards developing an application for submission to a SSHRC competition. Funds can be used for a pilot research project, hiring a student to assist with the research project or other research expenses.

The Brock University Advancement Fund (BUAF) provides faculty from all disciplines with seed research funding in preparation for future submission to an external funding agency and funding for special pursuits. This grant provides seed funding for small-scale research or pilot projects that will be developed into mature research proposal submissions.
