Brock University men’s basketball player Dani Elgadi (Waterloo, ON) has been named a CIS First Team All-Canadian for the 2015-16 season.
“Dani’s commitment to the basketball program, both prior to the season and his play during the season, is consistent with the recognition he has received being named a CIS First Team All-Canadian,” said Brock Director of Athletics and Recreation Neil Lumsden. “We are proud to have Dani as a student-athlete at Brock University and excited to watch him represent the Badgers on the basketball court during his final two seasons.”
Elgadi becomes just the eighth CIS First Team All-Canadian selection in school history, joining Wally Dick (1969-70), Gord Wood (1991-92), Dave Picton (1993-94, 1995-96), Clint Holtz (1994-95) and Kevin Stienstra (2004-05, 2005-06).
After being named the 2013-14 OUA Rookie of the Year and to the OUA and CIS all-rookie team in his first year in the league, Elgadi was named an OUA first-team all-star after averaging a double-double this season.
He finished sixth in OUA scoring averaging 19.9 points per game and was the OUA leader in rebounds finishing with 223 boards (11.7 rebounds per game). Elgadi also finished second in OUA blocks (38) and steals (41). For the season, Elgadi shot 47.0 per cent (133-for-283) from the field and 77.3 per cent (109-for-141) from the charity stripe.
Elgadi also put together one of the top single season performances in school history. He recorded double figures in 34 of 38 games, including 20 double-doubles. He finished with the third best single season points total adding 740 points. He also grabbed 383 rebounds and collected 283 field goals which both rank second all-time in the Brock single season record book. His overall season totals were 20.0 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.8 SPG and 1.7 BLK.
