Tammy Boodram (BBA ’14) has found her calling in marketing thanks to the opportunities provided to her by Brock University’s Goodman School of Business.
Boodram started in Goodman’s accounting program and although she excelled in that field, she discovered a passion for marketing after getting a taste of it in a co-op work term. After transferring to the BBA program and graduating with relevant experience through co-op work terms, Service-Learning projects and several DECA U awards, she has found herself in the world of marketing at Bell Media.
Her advice for students is to get involved in co-curricular activities and to go above and beyond what is expected. She credits her ability to break into the marketing industry to her student life experiences at Goodman, particularly DECA.
Boodram was the President of Goodman DECA in 2013 and won several awards at provincial and international competitions throughout her involvement with the student organization, including first place in advertising at DECA’s Collegiate Leadership Academy (international level) in both 2012 and 2013.
DECA U is an organization that provides case analysis and presentation competition opportunities to business students in a fast-paced environment and in various categories such as accounting, communications, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing and hospitality and tourism.
As an alumna, Boodram stays connected with the University by returning to campus to volunteer for events such as Fall Preview Day this year where she shared her Brock experience with prospective students.
This is the latest in the Conversations with Goodman series which is produced by the Goodman Marketing, Communications and Alumni Relations team and features guests from the Goodman community.
