Goodman school looking to appoint interim dean

The Goodman School of Business is seeking to appoint an internal candidate to the position of Interim Dean until June 30, 2017, commencing immediately.

The Dean’s Office provides academic and administrative oversight of the Goodman School of Business, in promoting its undergraduate and graduate programs domestically and internationally. The Dean’s Office leads efforts that enable the Goodman School of Business and the University to achieve their strategic mandate.

The successful candidate will ensure sustainable growth and competitiveness of the programs within the Goodman School of Business and enhance partnerships inside and outside the University. Providing transformational and visionary leadership, the Interim Dean charts the future direction, developing a clear, distinct and achievable long-term plan.

Candidates that will be considered will have:

• A track record of being an accomplished academic and dynamic leader

• Demonstrated ability to lead strong academic and administrative teams

• Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, change management and organizational development

• Proven experience promoting and supporting research, fostering academic innovation, managing resources and advancing multiple initiatives

• Open and collegial management style with strong communication and interpersonal skills

• A creative approach to problem solving

•  A strong commitment to academic excellence in research and teaching

• Sound judgment, proven ability to be flexible and adaptable

• Dedication to the student experience and success

• Strong degree of integrity/ethics

• Reporting to the Provost and serving as a member of the University’s Senior Administrative Council (SAC), the Interim Dean will be responsible for:

• Advising on academic matters, strategic developments, research and funding initiatives

• Working with other stakeholders in completing renovations and construction of the Goodman School of Business Building

• Participating in University-wide initiatives and fostering strong rapport with various Faculties and departments

•  Ensuring the overall financial health of the Faculty

•  Liaising with other Faculties and departments, institutions, academic bodies, alumni and community members, developing rapport and partnerships

• Promoting and supporting research, and fostering academic innovation

• Recruiting, managing and developing administrative staff, and overseeing the recruitment and development of faculty and staff
