A special guest will be on hand for Brock University’s Opening of Term Celebration Thursday, Aug. 27.

Shirley Cheechoo will be making her first visit to the campus since it was announced in July she had accepted the invitation to become Brock’s next Chancellor.

The annual Opening of Term Celebration kicks off the fall term each year and is hosted by President Jack Lightstone and his wife, Dorothy Markiewicz. It will be held in Jubilee Courtyard (or Market Hall if it rains) from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Tickets have been subsidized by the President’s office and are $5 each, but must be purchased in advance either at the Welcome Desk or at the Brock Card Office. Tickets are available until the end of day Wednesday.

The menu includes the choice of grilled chicken breast with roasted peach, BBQ beef brisket, or black bean and corn taco with chipotle avocado cream.

The Thursday Brock Farmer’s Market runs every Thursday until Sept. 17 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
