A recent visit to New York wound up a ringing success for Brock student Mark Dano.
The fourth-year business administration student, who travelled to the Big Apple to attend the Quinnipac GAME V Forum in March, was chosen to represent the University at a NASDAQ closing bell ceremony.
Dano joined NASDAQ representatives and panelists from GAME, a global asset management education conference for students who hope to work on Wall or Bay Street, for the ceremony. The event, which marks the closing of the markets for the day, was broadcast on CNBC, Bloomberg Television and BNN.
Dano was one of eight students from Brock’s Goodman School of Business attending the conference, of which NASDAQ was a sponsor.
He and fellow student Sean Bouwers organized the Brock Finance and Investment Group’s (BFIG) involvement in GAME. Both students have been active with BFIG, a student-run investment group that focuses on capital markets and financial education through a student-funded and managed portfolio.
“The biggest value for me was the opportunity to network with a vast number of students from all over the world and getting in-depth information from people who work on Wall Street — people who have worked for over 30 years in large firms and even the U.S. government,” Dano said.
This was the third time Dano has attended GAME, which he says has given him the greatest exposure to what happens in the world of finance. It has also shown him the many paths a person can take when embarking on such career after graduation.
Other Brock students attending GAME were Colin Dano, Patrick Heming, Harry Jagdev, Michael Nash, Hyder Shah and Jake Berec.
