Brock-Niagara French contest returns Wednesday

Brock will be saying bienvenue to high school French students on Wednesday.

The students, from Niagara and in grades 11 and 12, will be on campus to participate in the 37th annual Brock-Niagara French Contest, also known as le Concours Brock-Niagara.

They will compete in one of three categories: core French; intensive French for students who study several subjects in the romance language; and Francophone for French first-language students. Particpants take part in five language activities designed to test their proficiency.

Pride isn’t the only thing up for grabs in the contest. Major category winners will also receive cash prizes, thanks to donations from the University, local school boards, and local businesses and community organizations that represent Niagara’s Francophone community.

Contestants will also tour the campus with French student monitors from the University to gain insight into campus life. After lunch, they will attend of French performance by Sultans of String.
