This document provides a significant indication of the challenges facing Brock as well as identifying strategies for what the President identifies as defending our current mission, maximizing our enrolment potential and improving our financial position. In addition to identifying many of the significant recent achievements within each Faculty, the Report of the Vice President Academic also reports that the MTCU has approved the BA (Honours) Game Design and BSc (Honours) Game Programming submissions for full funding, commencing in September 2015. The report also includes updates from the Vice Provost, Teaching and Learning. These include the announcement that the Department of Dramatic Arts has been been successful in receiving Provincial funding for one online course module, a link to the executive summary of Brock’s 2014 NSSE results, and an update from the Co-Op Programs office.

The report of the Vice President, Research and Scholarship celebrates the achievements of many Brock researchers as evidenced by the recent Celebration of Research. The report also recognizes the success of research grant recipients. The Vice President will also provide a Power Point presentation comparing Brock’s publication performance to that of other institutions

The report of the Academic Colleague identifies a number of significant, impending government decisions, particularly related to funding and accountability, including outcomes surveys. The report also identifies a number of new COU initiatives.

The report of the Governance Committee will include an In Camera discussion of potential Honorary Degree nominees.
The report of the Research and Scholarship Policy Committee includes motions to extend the terms of the Centre for Bone and Muscle Health for an additional five years, and for the approval of the remaining two years of the Advanced Biomanufacturing Centre’s original five-year mandate.

The reports of the Information Technology and Infrastructure Committee, Planning Priorities and Budget Advisory Committee, Graduate Studies Committee, Teaching and Learning Policy Committee have been posted for information.
The Undergraduate Program Committee includes motions to Senate related to the following: Changes to Faculty Handbook III, A. Section 11.10 Transcripts and Diplomas; changes to Articulation Agreements – Policing and Criminal Justice; introduction of Articulation Agreements – Goodman School of Business; introduction of Articulation Agreement – Sport Management; changes to program – Masters Preparation Certificate in Education; proposed changes to program requirements – Policing and Criminal Justice; proposed changes to program requirements – Recreation and Leisure Studies; proposed additions and changes to the undergraduate course bank.
The Academic Review Committee includes a motion to Senate for approval of Major Modifications to the BEd Primary/Junior (Aboriginal) program in the Tecumseh Centre for Aboriginal Research and Education.
Senate will receive the final report from the Ad-hoc Committee on Program Review and Prioritization. A motion asking Senate to accept and approve the report has been put forward. Senate will determine the next steps in terms of how this report is to be implemented. Once Senate has approved the final report, it will also decide how the report is to be released to the Brock community and more widely.
