The work of two Brock students will be highlighted Monday at an event celebrating entrepreneurship and innovation in Niagara.
Ian Farr and Sultana Naimi will be among several Niagara youth entrepreneurs presenting their business ideas at the showcase, which is also aimed at helping Niagara youth create their own jobs. Both recently competed at Canada’s Business Model Competition held in Halifax and are working on their business “Incounter,” a proximity-based business networking app.
The event will also feature a keynote address entitled “Innovating in Urban Economies: Economic Transformation and Ontario’s Digital Triangle” by David Wolfe, co-director of the Innovation Policy Lab at University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs. Apanel discussion, a showcase of first projects from the Kick-Starting Entrepreneurship Program, which encourages Niagara youth to explore their innovative ideas, and the opportunity to network with promising youth startups and business support organizations are also on the bill.
BioLinc, Brock’s Goodman School of Business’s business incubator, and Niagara Region Economic Development will host the event at Amici’s Banquet and Conference Centre, 2740 Merrittville Highway, in Thorold, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on March 23. Lunch is included.
