Details have been confirmed for services to honour David S. Howes, the St. Catharines businessman and long-time Brock University Trustee who died earlier this week.
Visitation for family and friends will be at the George Darte Funeral Home, at 585 Carlton St. in St. Catharines, on Tuesday Jan. 27 from 7 to 9 pm, and on Wednesday Jan. 28 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
Flags at Brock University will be lowered to half mast for both of those days.
A prayer ceremony will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday Jan. 28 at 4 pm.
Sometime this spring, a celebration of Howes’ life will take place at the University, on a date to be determined. That event will be part of the dedication of a sculpture of Major-Gen. Sir Isaac Brock, a major piece of public art that Howes underwrote with a generous gift to the University. The 20-foot bronze sculpture is nearing completion and is expected to arrive at the campus in the coming weeks.
Howes had a long and close association with the University, including serving on Brock’s Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2012, with terms as Chair and Immediate Past Chair.
