Brock International Services recently welcomed 22 professors and scholars from institutions across the world for this term’s We Welcome the World Reception.
The event is organized each term to formally recognize new visiting international professors (VIP), scholars (VIS) and university mentorship (UM) participants.
Almost half of this term’s participants come from Brock’s established university partners overseas, including Ghent University, State University of Sao Paulo, Linnaeus University and University of West Indies, among others.
All currently participating visiting scholars represent 25 academic institutions in 13 countries – Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Cuba, Egypt, Greece, Honduras, South Africa, Suriname, Sweden, Trinidad and Tobago and the UK.
Brock President Jack Lightstone, and Kim Meade, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, helped welcome the professors and scholars.
Some of the participants included:
University mentorship
Lieselot Allemeersch from Ghent University in Belgium is undertaking an internship in inclusive education at a local elementary school in St. Catharines, supervised by Sheila Bennett and Tiffany Gallagher in Teacher Education.
Visiting international scholar
Fernando Maues de Faria Junior, a PhD candidate from Federal University of Para in Brazil, is collaborating with Jennifer Rowsell in the Centre for Multiliteracies and the Reading Clinic in the research areas of literary literacy and teacher education.
Visiting international professor
Dr. Andreas Mueller is from the University of Worcester in the UK. He is currently teaching a third-year undergraduate course at Brock – The 18th Century Novel – in the Department of English Language and Literature.
I am offering lovely accommodations to visiting scholars — two bedroom condo shared with myself.
Also, I would happily volunteer assistance in the form of English language practice.
