The Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Brock University’s Goodman School of Business has been accredited by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPA Ontario) under the new National CPA Accreditation Program.
Brock’s Goodman School is currently the only business school in Ontario to offer a combined MBA and CPA program.
The new combined program allows non-accounting university graduates to pursue an MBA and an accounting designation at the same time.
The two-year graduate program also includes a co-op work term.
The CPA/MBA program will offer a CPA-accredited stream that provides graduates with advanced standing in the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP).
“It’s never too late to make a career change and this accreditation provides university graduates with a faster and seamless route to becoming professional accountants,” says Don Cyr, Dean, Goodman School of Business. “Graduates of our undergraduate and graduate accounting programs are already in high demand. The combination of a Goodman MBA and the CPA designation will be a competitive advantage in the workplace.”
The accreditation of the MBA closely follows the recent accreditation of Goodman’s Bachelor of Accounting and Master of Accountancy.
In December 2013, Goodman became the first business school in Ontario to be accredited to the Master’s level by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPA Ontario) under the new National CPA Accreditation Program.
The MBA’s accreditation builds on the recent BAcc and MACC accreditation by CPA Ontario as well as the MBA’s former status as a CMA/MBA combined program with the Certified Management Accountants of Ontario.
“Our partnership with Brock, which has been very beneficial in the past, has been taken to the next level by the accreditation of their MBA program,” said Brian Leader, FCPA, FCA, Vice-President of Learning at CPA Ontario. “We’re very pleased to be able to once again work with Brock to provide course enhancements beneficial to their students and our future Chartered Professional Accountants.”
