Lorne Adams came to Brock University in 1974, a young faculty member and an aspiring coach. Now, 40 years later, he is retiring, having left his indelible mark on the University in academics, athletics, research and thousands of student lives.
Adams has been a part of Brock since nearly the beginning, and is one of Brock’s best-known and longest-serving educators. He taught, coached, mentored and led literally thousands of Brock students over his four-decade tenure. On Friday April 25, those athletes, colleagues, former students and countless alumni upon whom he has had an influence, will celebrate his career at Brock.
During his Brock career, Adams received recognition for his legendary teaching, winning several significant awards, including the prestigious 3M Canada Teaching Fellowship Award in 2004. As athletic director from 2001 to 2010, Adams oversaw 50 championships in various sports, including 38 provincial and 12 national titles.
This year marks Brock’s 50th anniversary and an opportunity for alumni and the University community to celebrate the significant events in our magnificent history. Throughout the year, alumni are encouraged to relive their Brock experience, return to their University and reunite with their friends, roommates, teammates, professors and coaches. This celebration for Adams is more than just a retirement party – it’s an opportunity for alumni to reunite and honour a Brock institution.
Registration is encouraged for this event. A $10 registration fee will cover hors d’oeuvres and parking, with remaining funds going to the Dr. Lorne Adams Student Athlete Award.
