Brock University student Jim Jessop has been named the province’s deputy fire marshal.
Jessop has more than 17 years of firefighting experience and will begin his new role March 3. He is currently the deputy fire chief in London, Ont., and has worked for fire departments in Toronto and Niagara Falls.
Jessop will also serve as Ontario fire marshal office director, field and advisory services and will be responsible for:
• fire protection field advisory services;
• emergency management field advisory services and program delivery;
• community safety enhancement initiatives (marijuana grow-ops and clandestine labs);
• public education initiatives
The Brock master’s of business administration student is also enrolled in the executive fire officer program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Md.
