If there were ever a time to return to Brock University, next year would be it.
The Brock community will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with a slate of exciting events throughout 2014. Students, alumni, faculty, staff and the community will be welcomed to campus to help mark the University’s milestone anniversary through various events and celebrations.
An anniversary website will be launched early in the New Year that will capture highlights of Brock’s achievements, growth and future. A timeline with key moments and people will also be on the website, along with a platform where students and faculty can share their memories of Brock.
The website will also house the many anniversary events taking place throughout the year, including such marquee events as the unveiling of a new statue of Sir Isaac Brock, Homecoming, numerous reunions and Canada’s largest annual gathering of scholars, the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
Alumni will be the major focus of the 2014 anniversary celebrations. Hundreds of graduates will participate in reunions throughout the year, with many culminating on the Sept. 19-21 Homecoming weekend.
“The anniversary plan has been designed to welcome alumni back to campus to be part of the memorable celebrations,” says Christine Jones, director of Alumni Relations. “Our goal is to facilitate reunions for as many groups as possible so they can experience the celebrations and renew their Brock connections.”
Numerous alumni volunteers have already confirmed their participation in leading the reunion activities. Some of the confirmed reunions to date include the first students of Brock, Grade 12 summer entry program graduates, residence dons, graduates of Co-Op Accounting and various athletic teams.
