This week marks the first time celebration of National Francophone Immigration Week in Canada.

The week brings more than 100 activities to French-language communities across Canada to celebrate the contributions of immigrants to the vitality their communities.

In Ontario, the Niagara-based association of Francophone women immigrants (SOFIFRAN) is partnering with the French Studies program at Brock University on a couple of community events.

* Wednesday, Nov. 6: An exhibition of Haitian paintings, stamps, postcards, literature, money and history in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Brock, on the second floor of Mackenzie Chown A-block at the University, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

* Saturday, Nov 9: A guided French language tour of Brock University’s Rodman Hall Art Centre, located at 109 St. Paul Crescent, in downtown St. Catharines.

An initiative of the Fédération des communautés francophones et acadiennes du Canada (FCFA), National Francophone Immigration Week celebrations aims to promote Francophone immigration and diversity in Canada’s Francophone and Acadian communities.
